Otakon to Host Jam Project, Faylan, Natsuko Aso in November

Share

During Otakon’s closing ceremonies on Sunday, the convention’s organizers announced that they will host a 20th anniversary music festival with JAM Project, Faylan, and Natsuko Aso on November 3. The event will be held at the Rams Head venue in Baltimore in conjunction with music producer Lantis.

Tickets will go on sale for US$50 or less by September 1, with Otakon attendees getting first access with discounts. VIP passes will also be available with proceeds going to charity.

JAM Project is an anime supergroup, consisting of veteran anime theme musicians such as Ichiro Mizuki, Hironobu Kageyama, Rica Matsumoto, Eizo Sakamoto, Hiroshi Kitadani, Masaaki Endou, Masami Okui, and Yoshiki Fukuyama. The rock band provided theme songs for Scrapped Princess, Sgt. Frog, Gravion, and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. Their latest single, “Limit Break” is the opening theme for Cardfight!! Vanguard: Asia Circuit Hen. The series is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.

Singer Yoshiki Fukuyama was previously on orders to rest after undergoing emergency surgery for a subarachnoid hemorrhage, but is expected to return to touring with the band in time for the concert.

JAM Project made their United States debut at Otakon in 2008.

Faylan debuted in 2007 with her first single “Gekka no Rasen”. She’s gone on to perform theme songs for The Future Diary, Katanagatari and Mobile Suit Gundam AGE. Her song “Realization” is the opening theme for this summer’s Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero. The series is currently streaming on FUNimation‘s website.

Natsuko Aso‘s most recent theme song is “Fighting Growing Diary” for Cardfight!! Vanguard: Asia Circuit Hen. She’s also contributed to Baka and Test – Summon the Beasts, Modern Magic Made Simple, and the second season of Tantei Opera Milky Holmes.

Otakon’s Jim Vowles mentioned that this festival may be the first of many if it works out.
